7th October, 2025

arete Australia was proud to attend the official opening of the newly redeveloped ground floor at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, unveiled by the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas, Minister for Health.

The $7.5 million redevelopment marks an important milestone for Victoria’s public oral health services, creating a modern, inclusive and welcoming environment designed to enhance patient experience and accessibility.

Delivered by arete Australia, the transformed ground floor features new Aboriginal liaison and social worker offices, a consultation room for families and clinicians, an upgraded parent’s room, a quiet room, and a prayer room for reflection and mindfulness. The new entrance and reception area have been reconfigured to improve patient flow and accommodate the 500 patients who visit the hospital each day.

Funded by the Victorian Government, the redevelopment was shaped through extensive consultation with staff and patients to ensure the design supports comfort, cultural safety and community connection.

arete Australia is proud to have partnered with Dental Health Services Victoria to deliver a people-focused healthcare environment that reflects the hospital’s commitment to compassionate and accessible care for all Victorians.
