arete Australia was engaged to deliver a purpose-built ISO Class 8 cleanroom laboratory at the CSIRO Clayton campus. The project involved constructing a concealed laboratory space within an existing warehouse, incorporating a services mezzanine above to house the specialised mechanical ventilation and conditioning systems required to support the facility.

The cleanroom was designed to meet ISO 14644-1:2015 Class 8 standards, ensuring strict environmental controls for CSIRO’s solar film print research and development activities. Particular attention was placed on the integration and commissioning of mechanical ventilation and electrical systems, which were critical to maintaining the performance and compliance of the facility.

In addition to the construction works, arete provided coordination and oversight for the installation and commissioning of the specialist solar film print equipment supplied by a third party. The result is a highly controlled environment that supports CSIRO’s innovative research in renewable energy technologies, delivered to the highest standards of precision and quality.
