arete Australia was engaged as principle contractor in early December 2020 to deliver the Deakin University NA Building refurbishment project.
Building NA is the main building in The Geelong Technology Precinct at the Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus. The project was undertaken over a three month period and provides a revamped working space for one of the university’s key research tenants, Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute.
Completed over a 1400sqm area on Ground and Level 1, the project involved major removal and replacement of the tenancies mechanical system with significant in ceiling void and roof works which proved a challenge for loading and removal, while also providing full new fitout to suit the working style of the tenant.
The internal works included:
- New working spaces and offices
- New kitchen and break out zones
- A new air lock and entry to provide access to the new inter-floor tenancy stair linking the double height entry zone and Level 1
Works were completed in close partnership with Deakin University’s internal architectural team and coordinated with client procured security and AV contractors to achieve a vibrant office space in one of their flagship Science Buildings.
The project reached Practical Completion in March 2021.
