Brighton Grammar project milestone

17th August, 2026

arete Australia is progressing delivery of Brighton Grammar School’s new state-of-the-art Indoor Sport and Event Complex, with the project recently marking an important construction milestone.

The arete project team joined representatives from Brighton Grammar School and key project stakeholders on site to recognise the progress achieved to date as construction continues across the Brighton campus.

The new facility will provide a dedicated indoor sport and event space for students from ELC to Year 12, comprising two basketball courts with the flexibility to accommodate a range of indoor sports and activities, along with offices, amenities and support spaces.

arete’s involvement began through an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, working collaboratively with Brighton Grammar School and the project team to support the progression of design ahead of main works.

Located across existing school grounds and adjacent Brighton Grammar School-owned properties on Young Street, the project includes demolition of two existing dwellings and construction of the new facility.

Significant groundwork has now been completed, including major soil cuts, with essential in-ground services currently being installed. The main structure will incorporate a strip & pad footing foundation, precast concrete wall panels and a large-span steel roof.

Once complete, the Indoor Sport and Event Complex will support increased student participation in sport and provide greater opportunities for sporting activities and events to be held on campus.

arete looks forward to continuing to work with Brighton Grammar School, Ontoit and the broader project team, subcontractors and suppliers as the facility progresses towards operational readiness in the second half of 2027.
